APLAWS on fedorahosted.org

You may wonder, when you tried to visit us at fedorahosted.org and find yourself here. Aplaws was part of fedorahosted.org community and used the service to store and manage the public software repository as well as information and coordination of the software development and project documentation. Unfortunately, fedorahosted.org was retired in March 2017 without direct replacement.

The Aplaws project now has to decide where the Softweare repository is to be hosted in the future and has to edit the transition.

Aplaws

APLAWS, the Accessible and Personalised Local Authority Website System, was specifically designed to support Local Authorities to fulfill their typical tasks in an easy and efficient manner, and to significantly reduce the workload required by local authorities authors and administrators, and, in particular, the financial burden for the local authority's budget.

APLAWS is a content management system (CMS) designed for collaboration as well as content creation. This open source system is a tool for managing website content in a way which allows users to create, modify, arrange and delete content without requiring HTML or programming skills. Each author will be in a position to be able to fully focus on his professional competence.

APLAWS offers built in software functionality to support authors and editors, lessening the burden of work, and lowering maintenance costs. The APLAWS community continues to expand and develop, and today is highly regarded as an easy to use content management system for administration.

After more than 15 years of continuous development, the system has grown into a stable and reliable tool for the specific needs of Local Authorites.

Some of the most valued features:

Open Source:

APLAWS is freely available, which means there is no cost for the software and no ongoing license cost.

Community Based:

The APLAWS user community continues to grow steadily, and a large share of the development is now user led.

We invite you to contribute to the APLAWS network in order to improve the functionality of the software, and to help us grow our community.

Content Creation:

Provides role-based permissions at multiple levels for continued collaboration among users.

Workflow:

Content moves through a documented series of steps meaning there is a full audit trail. Content is also archived, so earlier versions can be accessed and authors responsible are documented.

Up to Date Information:

Automatic email notifications for workflows and life-cycles when tasks are complete or content is about to expire.

Strong Categorization System:

APLAWS allows for poly-hierarchic categorization, which enable complex content to be available to website visitors with varying interests and perspectives.
